| McDermott enters the season with a record of 203-85 in 16 years as the head coach at Huntington High School in New York. He was selected by Newsday as the 2006 Long Island Coach of the Year as his 2006 team went 22-0 and captured the Division II, County, Long Island and State Championship and was named News 12 Team of the Year. In 2005, McDermott’s team finished the year 21-0 and won the Division II, County, Long Island and State Championship. He was named 2002 Man of the Year by the N.I.L.A. and is the four-time Division II Coach of the Year (2000, 2001, 2005, 2006). The 1980 graduate of Huntington H.S. is currently a sixth-grade math teacher at Half Hollow Hills School. |
